Effective Date: September 1, 2017

FamilyEmbrace, LLC (“Company”, “us” or “we”) owns and operates the FamilyEmbrace website and mobile applications as an online community (“Service”) to facilitate communication between a loved one, their family and their friends during difficult life transitions. Service Providers are third-party entities that provide various forms of support to our Service. By using our Service, you understand and agree to the following Privacy Policy.

Our Commitment to Transparency
This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect when you use our Service. It also describes how we use the information you share with us and some of the steps we take to protect your privacy.

What Information is Collected by FamilyEmbrace?
When you use our Service, you may be creating and maintaining an online community on behalf of yourself or another person, or visiting and posting to an online community created by someone else. By their very nature, these communities contain a great deal of personal information about the subject of the community and other individuals.

Information You Volunteer. We collect the personal information you and others knowingly and voluntarily provide when you use our Service. “Personal information” means information about an identified or identifiable individual. Examples of personal information include your name, your email address, and your photograph.

Credit Card Information. If you provide credit card information through the Service, the information you provide is never stored on our server. Instead, when you click on the “submit” button, it is forwarded immediately to a third-party service provider for processing. We use industry standard Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) software to encrypt all of your credit card information as it travels over the Internet and via wireless methods to our third-party service provider. We do not retain a copy of your credit card information. Our third-party service providers use your credit card information only to process your transaction (and for fraud prevention purposes) and are bound by contract to keep your credit card information confidential.

Information Collected From Your Mobile Device. We do not ask you for access or track any location based information from your mobile device at any time while downloading or using our mobile application or services.

Information Sent to Us by Your Web Browser. We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser and through our mobile application. This information typically includes your IP address, the identity of your Internet service provider, the name and version of your operating system, the name and version of your browser, the date and time of your visit, and the pages you visit. Please check your browser if you want to learn what information your browser sends or how to change your settings. Generally, we do not link the information provided by your browser to information that identifies you by name.

More About IP Addresses. An “IP address” is a unique number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you connect to the Internet. It is used to identify your computer’s “location” in cyberspace, so that the information you request can be delivered to you. If you use a dialup connection or a connection that assigns dynamic IP addresses, your computer will be assigned a new IP address each time you connect to the Internet. If, however, your computer is permanently connected to the Internet using a static IP address, the IP address assigned to your computer will generally be the same each time you use your computer.

IP addresses do not include your name, email address or other information that identifies you personally, but in some cases, they can be used to identify you. For example, we may link your IP address to account information that identifies you personally. If, for example, we suspect fraud or a threat to the security of the Service, we may share our server logs – which contain IP addresses – with the appropriate investigative authorities, who could use that information to trace and identify individuals.

Cookies and Similar Technologies. We use “cookies” and other web technologies to collect information and support certain features of the Service on our website. For example, we may use these technologies to:
collect information about the ways people use the Service – which pages they visit, which links they use, and how long they stay on each page;
support the features and functionality of the Service – for example, to save you the trouble of reentering information already in our database or to prompt the settings you established on previous visits; and/or
personalize your experience when you use the Service.

Generally, the information we collect using these web technologies does not identify you personally. If, however, you have created a user identity, we may link the information we collect using these web technologies to other information that identifies you personally.

If you do not wish to receive cookies, you may set your browser to reject cookies or to alert you when a cookie is placed on your computer. You may also delete our cookies as soon as you leave the Service. Although you are not required to accept our cookies when you visit the Service, if you set your browser to reject cookies, you may not be able to use all of the features and functionality of the Service.

We compile statistical information from the responses to our surveys. These statistics do not identify you personally. These statistics help us understand the needs and preferences of the groups we serve and improve the content and functionality of the Site.

How Does FamilyEmbrace Share Personal Information With Others?
FamilyEmbrace does not share, sell or disclose personal information collected through the Service, except as specifically disclosed in this Privacy Policy.

Service Providers. Our Service Providers will have access to the personal information you post on the Service. Our Service Providers provide the technical support necessary to create, maintain and support this online community.
Third-Party Vendors. FamilyEmbrace may share personal information collected through our Service with third-party service providers; for example, a customer service vendor may act for or on behalf of FamilyEmbrace. These third-party service providers may need information about you in order to perform their functions. If utilized, these companies will be required by contract to keep your personal information confidential and may use it only to provide services on our behalf.

Business Transfers. Your personal information may be transferred to a successor organization if, for example, we transfer the ownership or operation of our Service to another organization or if we merge with another organization. If such a transfer occurs, the successor organization’s use of your personal information is subject to this Privacy Policy and the privacy preferences you have expressed to us.

Compliance with Laws and Protection of Our Rights and the Rights of Others. We may disclose your personal information when we, in good faith, believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law, a court order or a subpoena. We may also disclose your personal information to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; to protect the security of our Service; to enforce or apply our online Terms of Use or other agreements; or to protect our own rights or property or the rights, property or safety of our Users or others.

If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at customerservice@familyembrace.com. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Updating/Accessing/Amending/Correcting/Deleting or Removing Your Personally Identifiable Information
If your personally identifiable information changes, you may correct, update or amend it by making the change in your account or by contacting us at customerservice@familyembrace.com. If you no longer desire our service, you may ask us to delete it by contacting us atcustomerservice@familyembrace.com.

What Steps Does FamilyEmbrace Take to Safeguard Personal Information?
We maintain reasonable administrative, physical and technological measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information. For example, we use industry standard Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) encryption to protect your profile information, site creation information, and credit card information as it travels over the Internet or via wireless transmission. We restrict access to our data center and our databases, and we use a secure server dedicated to online donations to protect your personal and financial information. We also have firewall protection in place.

Unfortunately, no website, server or database is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. For this reason, you should use care and discretion when you post content on a community and never post information that can be used for identity theft purposes, such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers.

Protecting Children Under the Age of Thirteen
FamilyEmbrace communities may include friends and family of all ages; however, special care must be taken to protect children under the age of 13. For this reason, FamilyEmbrace does not knowingly permit individuals under the age of 18 to become Site Administrators, nor children under the age of 13 to register as Community Members.

Privacy Notices
This Privacy Policy may be supplemented or amended from time to time by “privacy notices” posted on the Service. These privacy notices provide a level of detail that we cannot provide in this more general description of our privacy practices.

Country-Specific Notices
Privacy requirements may vary from country to country. To meet these requirements we may, from time to time, include “country-specific notices” as part of this Privacy Policy. If any of the terms of a country-specific notice are different than the general terms of this policy, the terms of the country-specific notice will supplement or amend this Privacy Policy, but only to the extent that the laws of that country apply to the collection of personal information through the Service.

This Privacy Policy May Change
This Privacy Policy describes the current Company policies and practices with regard to the personal information we collect through the Service. Periodically, we will update or revise this Privacy Policy. If we make any changes we will notify you by posting the revised version of this Privacy Policy behind the link marked “Privacy Policy” at the bottom of each page of the website. We will also update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. You may access the current version of this Privacy Policy at any time by clicking the link marked “Privacy Policy” at the bottom of the home page of the website.
